Vietnam opens a new e-visa website to make visitors admission easier
As part of Vietnam's tourism promotion efforts, overseas travelers will be able to apply for electronic visas (e-visas) through a new web site evisa.gov.vn, beginning November 11.
According to the Ministry of Public Security's Immigration Department, the new portal will operate along with the present website, evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn, which now processes more than 15,000 applications per day.
"The new website has been upgraded and improved, with a Frequently Asked Questions section available in both English and Vietnamese, making it more convenient for foreign visitors," said a spokesman of the department.
Since August 15 of last year, Vietnam has issued 90-day e-visas to people of all nations and territories. However, a lot of travelers have provided inaccurate or missing information on the official portal or entered their information incorrectly on illegitimate websites, which has caused delays in the processing of e-visas.
In order to prevent application rejections, immigration officials encouraged applicants to make sure they are using the official e-visa websites and to accurately fill out all essential fields.
Vietnam received nearly 14 million foreign visitors between January and October, a 41% increase from the previous year and on pace to meet its yearly goal of 18 million.
